Dr. Rachel Ting is an adjunct faculty at China University of Political Science and Law, School of Sociology (Beijing), where she taught as a full-time associate professor from 2012-2015. She is also a licensed psychologist and eligible clinical supervisor in California, and an adjunct faculty at Fuller Theological Seminary-Graduate School of Psychology (USA). She has been providing training on Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy in various mental health institutes in China (Shanghai, Wuhan, ShenZhen and Chengdu) and Malaysia. She has been a private practitioner at various cities, including Kuala Lumpur and Beijing. Currently she is a consultant to InPsych Psychological & Counselling Services at Kuala Lumpur. Besides, she has been actively involved in the disaster relief in Qinghai, Sichuan and Yunnan in the past seven years.
Dr.Ting has years of experience supervising and training students of clinical psychology and counselling in Malaysia and USA. She has a wide range of clinical expertise and experiences including depression, grief, trauma, relational problems, ADHD, Learning Disability, religious and spiritual issues, and multiculturalism. Her clinical orientation is an integration of humanistic approach and interpersonal theory with time-limited focus (e.g. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy).
In her academic work, Dr. Ting has published five articles at SSCI peer-review journal (“Journal of Psychology and Theology”, “Pastoral Psychology) in the past. She has published five books—“Groupwork: An introduction to theories and cases examples,” “Sunset and Wilderness: Love and suffering in the therapy room,” , “Home Sweet Home: Love and Suffering outside of therapy room”, “Pastoral Care in China: The theological foundation and practice”, and “Who am I talking to? The self and emotional expression in bilingual Chinese.” Dr. Ting is proficient in Mandarin, Foochow, and English. She is also a regular column writer for the SinChew Daily and GuangHwa newspapers. She also presented about 20 papers in multiple international conferences, including APA annual convention. Dr. Ting had been a full member of the American Psychology Association (APA), the Asian American Psychology Association (AAPA), the Malaysian Society of Clinical Psychology, and Psychiatric Association (MPA). Her recent research area is indigenous psychology within Asian contexts, depression, and spirituality in psychotherapy.
