Objective/Purpose:

The objective of my original work was to create a website that offered public informational access to several college students about their careers in finance. I created this website, FinanceGlance, to help college students discover what each of the three common degrees had to offer. The CFA, MBA, and CPA degrees are three different degrees that vary in examinations, specialties, and careers. With this website, I intended to ease and possibly diminish a college student’s risk of choosing the wrong career. Through the past years, I have heard of several professional changing their major in colleges. Along with that, I have interviewed professionals who have switched their degree from law or realty to some form of finance. This leads to my purpose of creating this website. FinanceGlance would give these students a chance to overlook the degree they want to complete. By offering statistics, job offers, interviews, blogs, salaries, skills, and information about the degrees, I will ease the decision-making of future financial-professionals.

Materials:

Creating this website required common materials. I used a laptop to design a website creator, IMcreator, with the help of a connection in Maryland who assisted me with tips and techniques to format my website to make it very simple. Along with a laptop, I also used my cellular device to reach out to several professionals about the relevance of my website in the future.

Description of Process:

To begin with, I started to brainstorm the integral parts to an informational website to make it more unique than any other website out there. I decided to incorporate a bar of links that lead to current job offers that kept them up to date. After that, I began working on the website, which is when I contacted my uncle form Maryland who guided me through IMcreator and helped me with tips to create my website into a unique and simple site. After designing my website, I started adding the general information and photos to my website to add color and intriguing images to brighten my site into something worth reading. After placing all the general information onto my website, I spent most of my hours finding statistics and important details to each degree that would strongly support college students upon their decisions such as the top colleges, examinations, and salaries associated with each degree. To add onto that, I also incorporated the job offers using Monster.com which was linked onto my website. Before I continued anything else, I made sure to place my contact information and a questions tab for people who have viewed my website.

Utilization of Higher-Level Thinking Skills:

After reviewing my website, I noticed I was missing some sort of real-world experience other than the blogs. I began to incorporate my interview I conducted into the website to overall benefit the college students knowledge of the degrees with the interview I conducted through the starting months of ISM. After that, I also incorporated a significant quote towards my purpose of the website that explained that a goal is insignificant without a plan, making it a wish. I want incoming college students to read that quote and understand why I created this website and discover the beneficial information I implemented for finance.

Results:

Overall, the finishing result of my website included job offer, information about each degree, job offers, blogs, and top colleges that made it exactly how I proposed it in my research. I wonderfully explained each degree to a point where college students could understand the impact of their future and choose the right path. The website is easy to navigate through and the level of intensity starts from high to low as one may scroll down the cite. I was very happy with how the website turned out and hope that it benefits incoming college students.

Conclusions/Interpretations:

I interpret a great use for this website in the future with its infinite capacity to hold wonderful information about the three degrees of finance. Although I did not receive final feedback on my website, I greatly wish that incoming visitors to my website contact me through the information given and help me add or fix information. I learned that there is a ton of information scattered through several websites about these degrees, but this website gathered unique information that all together benefits one in choosing their career.

Application/meaning:

The overall meaning of this website is to successfully guide future college students into the right direction. The reason I created this website is because I myself was confused when I chose finance as my subject. There were three degrees I could choose and I knew nothing about all of them. With this website, I hope to drive students away from the utter confusion I encountered when I chose finance as my future career.
