In my third week of ISM, I developed an amazing socializing skill that helped me reach out to a few of the people on my contact list. I learned about financial advisors and how their job functioned with clients, dress expectations for the real world, and found the major investing corporations within Frisco, McKinney, and Plano. Financial advisors really intrigued me a lot since trust, relationships, and knowledgeable risk-taking all mixed into this one finance field. Before reading about advisors, all I thought they helped with were managing their money to the point where they reach retirement. However, I discovered financial advisors could sell insurance depending on their license, invest in stocks for their clients, and strengthen their client’s funds for usage in education and college. While forming my contact list, the hardest part was searching around for ones near me. However, I learned that connections are a very valuable source to keep in life and that is why I called one of my family members who connected me to his financial advisor who guided me through steps on finding nearby investors and advisors. Dress expectation also play a crucial role in appearance and give a message to whoever I may meet. I learned the difference between casual look, dress pants with a button-up shirt, and the professional look, suit with tie. I also learned that ties are specially associated with laced shoes. Next week, I aim to contacting several of financial people on my contact list and setting up interviews. I want to learn more about financial advisors such as where the salary comes from. Do the clients give them hourly rates, shares of their profits, or is it a one-month salary that ranges each month?
