We're going to do this by organising international student-projects. The best and brightest students from all over the globe, carefully handpicked by us.
During these student-projects we're going to realise CO2 neutral hydrogen plants in countries near the equator. The sun, as a infinite source of energy, will be used to convert methane to hydrogen, with carbon as a byproduct.
Methane is especially interesting for this, because it has 20 times more global-warming potential as CO2 and it's the main component of natural- and biogas.
So in the first instance it opens up the opportunity to switch from fossil fuels to hydrogen. In a second instance we're buying humanity some time to develop new and better technologies to harvest methane from renewable sources. Which, in the long term, even makes it possible to create a greenhouse gas positive solution that can solve our energy problem indefinitely.
That's not even all! By making use of the temperature flows in clever ways it will be possible to generate the necessary power to run the whole installation, while at the same time using the waste heat for thermal desalination of sea-water.
With this we even satisfy part of the high demand of fresh water in the countries where these plants will be located. Which will make the effort environmentally attractive in its entirety.
