During the first portion of my mentor visit, Dr. Lega and I discussed the neuroanatomy of the brain, specifically focusing on areas that mimic temporal lobe epilepsy. The reason this component was so beneficial was that the particular case I am looking at for my final product focuses on the same components of neuroanatomy that Dr. Lega and I were looking at. Additionally, I received guidance as to what components of our discussion I need to focus on in my research for my case study.

The second portion of my mentor visit was focused on reading an EEG. I received the opportunity to meet a EEG technician who showed me how to identify seizure onset when reading a patient's scan. This had been one of the main pieces of my case study that I have been struggling with when trying to understand the patients case. I knew that the patient was having seizures, but I did not know how to identify the seizures on the sEEG. However, I can now generally identify when and where a seizure originates in the brain when observing the data from the test, an valuable lesson not only for my current task, but several tasks I may encounter in my future.
