I have always struggled with critiquing myself as I tend to be overly harsh because I want everything to be perfect. Therefore, when watching the film of my own speech, all of the mistakes I made stood out to me, but it was extremely difficult for me to identify the aspects of the speech that I did well. Having already identified this weakness of mine, I made a conscious effort to look at one or more positive for each negative I identified in my speech.

From this experience, I achieved a new level of personal growth. I learned that nothing will ever be perfect; I will always have room for improvement, but I still need to acknowledge all of the things I do well. I learned to be proud of all of the good things I do while also working to develop and improve the skills that are weaker. Working on evaluating my Research Speech, though a struggle at the beginning, served as yet another opportunity for growth that I have received through my time in ISM.
