I had dedicate a large sum of time towards my final product as a case study; however, my mentor and I decided that I needed to go another way. I have now started with the new project with a great start. I have covered the majority of the information I intended on one of the areas of focus, the uncinate fasciculus, after three and a half hours of research. Regardless, I still have to do a lot of work because although I could incorporate some of my research from the case study, there is still a lot that I need to discover. I must learn about the diagonal band of broca, another key pathway in connection of the medial temporal lobe and the orbitofrontal cortex. I need to look into the functional role of the segment in the brain. Eventually, I will also tie both the uncinate fasciculus and the diagonal band of broca back into epilepsy in order to explain how it all correlates. The benefit to this new project over the previous one is that the end result of this product and the research can go on to be used by Dr. Lega to use as a teaching tool for his residents.
