Unsure.

Being in a state of uncertainty is an odd feeling. I often feel this- unsure of how well I am doing, how well I am going to do, unsure of what others think of how I am doing, unsure of how happy my husband is, unsure of how happy my son is… now that is a lot of uncertainty! Another thing about being unsure is that it makes you feel uncomfortable. From awkward, feet crushing stiletto pumps, to awkward, uncomfortable days after a job interview,, to uncomfortable, bad timing marriage talks while dating, its uncomfortable! It's different from your normal, day to day, and your constantly unsure- is this the right timing to talk to my child about puberty? Am I going to be cute and perceived well by others when wearing these pumps? Is he going to ignore me or break up with me if I bring up marriage- do I even really want to be married??! I have to be careful in my times of uncertainty, because it introduces fear. This fear can keep me from the real challenges God wants us to pursue. But the good thing about fear is that it can quickly bring in trust, if we remember what God says about trust and faith. We may feel uncertain, but we can trust that God is there and will take care of the situation. That is the space we need to be in! In Matthew 6:25-27, it reads: Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about your life, about what you will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? Here are three things to remember when being unsure: Remember the sure times. I think back to a time that I was sure-and everything worked out. That time was good, and it, I am sure, was accompanied by good feelings. And, I don't believe I knew it at the time, but only now that I look back I realize it! Have faith. 2 Corinthians 4:18 “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal”. We have to remember that our lives are like this- full of ups and downs and uncertainty. We must trust in God to get us through those times. Remember 1 Corinthians 2:9 "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him”. Certainty is uncertain, but God is for sure! Lets depend and trust in Him in our times of being unsure!
