STEP 01

DOWNLOAD THE PACK

Go to the download page and choose the OS of your choice.

A — WINDOWS

GOOGLE DRIVE

Choose this if you are on a Windows OS, and you would like to install Cosmobox through an Installer Assistant programs.

That file is stored on Google Drive.

You will get one .rar file (1.1GB).

To download the file, just hit : "DOWNLOAD ANYWAY"

NOTE : "Google Drive can't scan this file for viruses." means that the file is too heavy for Google to Virus Scan before downloading, so it just gives you the option to download the file directly anyway, without prior Google virus scan.

B — MAC / LINUX / WINDOWS MANUAL INSTALLATION

MEDIAFIRE

Choose this if you are on a MAC OS / LINUX, OR if you would like to install cosmobox on your Windows OS manually. (due to some issues you may encounter with the automatic method).

You got it, unfortunately, MAC and Linux users will have to install Cosmobox manually. Sorry for this. I couldn't find a way to create MAC installer program on my own back in time.

Before downloading from the MEDIAFIRE, you will have 3 choices:

  1. Windows OS
  2. MAC OS
  3. Linux

WHAT'S THE DIFERENCE ?

Nothing huge actually. At the end, you will get the exact same pack. Only the Winrar file format version will differ.

STEP 02-A

INSTALL THE PACK — AUTOMATIC INSTALLATION

FOR: WINDOWS

Follow this if you have downloaded the pack from the Google Drive (Windows version — for Installation through an Installer Assistant Program as mentioned previously).

If you are on Mac/ Linux / or if you had any issue with the installer on Windows OS, directly jump into the section B : MANUAL INSTALLATION.

EXTRACT

Start by extracting the .rar file you have downloaded, using your favorite file archiver program.

You will get a folder containing four (04) other ones :

A. Cosmobox 3D Pack

Let's start with the first folder called: " 01. Cosmobox 3D Pack "

Dive into it, and execute the installer, after reading the License Agreements pdf.

Click on "Next".

Here, you have to pay attention to some points to make sure you are installing the assets correctly at the right place.

- When you were installing your Element 3D for the first time, if you installed your library into the default location set by VideoCopilot : [Drive]:\Users\USER\Documents\VideoCopilot\Models, you can directly hit next.

- If you have changed the default E3D library Directory path, make sure you are pointing that custom directory out before hitting next.

PRO TIP: Cosmobox should be installed inside the "Model" folder, in the default E3D libraru. The E3D library path for 3D Models should always end like this: [...]\VideoCopilot\Models. For any Element 3D installatiom-related issue visit their official HelpDesk Page.

After hitting Next, let the Cosmobox installer do its job. This could take some time, depending on your drive reading/writing speed. Time to take a nice coffee or grab a beer !

Once completed, hit "Exit".

You're done !

You should now have your Cosmobox 3D Elements in your Element 3D Model Browser window, inside the Scene Setup, under the "Andy Dominique Rak" folder.

B. INTERSTALLARIUM

Same thing as prebiously. Execute the Interstellarium installer program.

On this installation step, you will have to choose your directory :

By default, my Installer Program will define the installation path to:

C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents\Andy Dominique RAK

This is basically the advised installation location, to keep things organized.

But here's the thing about Interstellarium: Because it's essentially an image + sound asset pack, you can install it ANYWHERE you want. They don't have any practical directory corelation with Element 3D, nor Cosmobox. Just make sure you install it in a strategic location, so it's easier for you to grab/pull it, when you're working.

Hit Next, and Exit when completed.

Interstellarium installation : DONE !

03. Dark NRJ

Here you have to pay even more attention because we have multi steps.

You should have 3 Installer programs, numbered from 1 to 3 :

The idea is obviously to Install them in order.

01/03 : Dark NRJ_OF Textures

This pack will install the Dark NRJ's Optical Flares Texture Elements pack into your Optical Flares Library.

Execute it, and hit next.

Here, you will have to select your current After Effects version.

For future versions: Because this pack is now maybe obsolete by the time you are reading this, if you are more recent versions of After Effects, just select "CC2017" and hit Next to edit the directory on the next step.

Same principle as the E3D directory, but this time, with Optical Flares Directory.

Even if you have chosen your correct Ae version, always check that the directory here is correct as well, as the installation directory for the optical rockets may change on newer versions or if you chose a custom path when you had the optical rockets installed, OR if you are on a newer Ae version, and you will need to redefine the correct installation path, after choosing "CC 2017", as mentioned previously.

By default, you should install this pack into :

[Drive]:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects [your version]\Support Files\Plug-ins\VideoCopilot\Optical Flares\Optical Flares Textures\Elements

If you cannot find this specific directory, you will have to relocate. It should be in the After Effects' plugins folder, then in the same folder where you installed the optical flares:

[ ...Optical Flares\Optical Flares Textures\Elements ]

NOTE: The [...]\Elements directory should already exist, and not be created during the installation. So make sure you have Purchased and Installed Optical Flares before installing DarkNRJ, otherwise, you won't be able to locate these folders.

By clicking next, if this message pops out, it means that you will have to triple check because you are not installing it in the right directory, or you do not have Optical Flares installed yet:

If you have picked the right directory, you will be prompted to start the installation. Obviously, hit "Start":

Exit once the installation is over.

Congrats! 1/3, DONE !

Now if you open your optical flares plugin > Lens Object browser > Custom, and load a random custom texture; Then, go to the Lens Editor > Object Shape > change the Shape Type to : Texture, you will be able to see all the custom Andy Dominique Rak textures you just installed. To identify them, my custom textures are starting with "ADR_"

Too complicated to follow by text ? Watch the following GIF instead😉 :

02/03 : Dark NRJ_Custom Objects

Let's install the second DARK NRJ asset.

This second installer will now install some nice custom objects in Optical Flares.

Start by executing the file.

Same as above : Choose your current Ae version & for newer Ae version, choose CC2017, then modify on the next step.

For both : Always double-check the location to install it properly.

This time, always by the Ae Plugin Folder as the root, the path you should install into ends this way (and should exist):

[ ...Optical Flares\Optical Flares Presets\Custom Objects ]

Start the Installation, and hit Exit once over.

Tada ! 2/3 : DONE !

Now if you go into your Optical Flares UI > Lens Object Browser Window > Custom

You should see all the Andy Dominique Rak lens objects you have just installed. Again, to easily identify them, they all start with "ADR_"

Once loaded, you will be able to customize their scale, rotation, behavior, distance,... like any normal Optical Flares lens element.

Watch the following GIF instead😉 :

03/03: Dark NRJ_Lens Flares

Almost there !

This one is the icing on the cake: Optical Flares Presets.

I am not going to explain the usual steps.

Execute the program. Version wise, you now get the deal.

Now the path should end like this :

[ ...\Optical Flares Presets\Lens Flares ]

Start installation, and hit Exit once over.

Well done ! You have successfully installed the entire Cosmobox Bundle !

Now, to use what you have just installed: inside your Optical Flares UI> Preset Browser > Dark NRJ_ADR

Bring in the GIF !😉 :

ENJOY !

STEP 02-B

INSTALL THE PACK — MANUAL INSTALLATION

FOR: MAC/LINUX/FAILED AUTOMATIC WINDOWS INSTALLATIONS

Follow this if you have downloaded the pack from the MEDIAFIRE.

This is going to be a MANUAL installation process. Unfortunately, I do not have a MAC/LINUX OS to show you the exact OS screenshots UI. I am going to demonstrate using my Windows OS, but the final directory should be universal.

EXTRACT

Start by extracting the .rar file you have downloaded, using your favorite file archiver program.

You will get a folder containing four (04) other ones :

A. Cosmobox 3D Pack

Let's start with the first folder called: " 01. Cosmobox 3D Pack "

Dive into it, extract the file : "Cosmobox E3D Pack.rar"

You will get a folder named : " Andy Dominique Rak"

That is basically our Cosmobox Model Pack.

Select it, and copy+paste it into your default Element 3D Library Location, under the Model Folder. ( The one you have set when you have installed E3D for the first time. ) — This should exist already, and should not be created during this Cosmobox installation. If it doesn't, make sure you have purchased and installed Element 3D first, or make sure you have not moved the Default E3D Library directory.

By default, it is here :

[Drive]:\Documents\VideoCopilot\Model

You're done !

You should now have your Cosmobox 3D Elements in your Element 3D Model Browser window, inside the Scene Setup, under the "Andy Dominique Rak" folder.

B. INTERSTALLARIUM

Same thing: Extract the " Interstellarium Pack.rar " file.

Once extracted, you can leave it there, or move it anywhere you want because it is essentially an images + sounds asset pack. It does not have any practical directory corelation with Element 3D, nor Cosmobox.

Just make sure you install it in a strategic location, so it's easier for you to grab/pull it, when you're working.

Interstellarium installation : DONE !

03. Dark NRJ

Here you have to pay even more attention because we have multi steps.

You should have 3 .rar files, numbered from 1 to 3 :

The idea is obviously to extract and move them in order.

01/03 : Dark NRJ_OF Textures

Extract the "01_Dark NRJ_Optical Flares Textures" file BUT, in a specific location.

It should be extracted into your default Optical Flares Texture Elements location.

That location may vary from user to user, depending on where you have installed your Optical Flares.

Your Optical Flares is for sure inside your Program Files> Adobe> After Effects (your version) > Plugin

Now, look for this specific folder structure, and extract the .rar contents there:

[...\Optical Flares\Optical Flares Textures\Elements ]

NOTE:

The [ ...\Optical Flares Textures\Elements ] directory should already exist, and should not be created during the Dark NRJ installation. Make sure you have Purchased and Installed Optical Flares before installing DarkNRJ, otherwise, you won't be able to locate these folders.

Congrats! 1/3, DONE !

Now if you open your optical flares plugin > Lens Object browser > Custom, and load one random custom texture; Then, go to the Lens Editor > Object Shape > change the Shape Type to : Texture, you will be able to see all the custom Andy Dominique Rak textures you just installed. To identify them, my custom textures are starting with "ADR_"

Too complicated to follow by text ? Watch the following GIF instead😉 :

02/03 : Dark NRJ_Custom Objects

Let's install the second DARK NRJ asset.

Start by extracting the file.

Same as above, you will have to extract it in an exact file hierarchy location.

This time, always by the Ae Plugin Folder as the root, the path you should install it into ends this way (and should exist):

[ ...Optical Flares\Optical Flares Presets\Custom Objects ]

Extract and blabla.

The path should end like this :

[ ...\Optical Flares Presets\Lens Flares ]

Now, to use what you have just installed: inside your Optical Flares UI> Preset Browser > Dark NRJ_ADR

Bring in the GIF !😉 :

QUICK MESSAGE FOR YOU ! ❤️

Andy Dominique Rak from 2021 here!

I want to thank you all for the love and support you have given this pack. We've reached about 4 million downloads, from all over the world, as of this writing (2021), which is crazy !

The bundle is free, and I do not make any money off of it. Created this 4 years ago now, back when I was just starting out in the 3D/Motion Design world and wanted to contribute to the community.

Today, a lot has changed in my career. I'm still in the motion design and creative industry, but on a new level and in a new chapter now.

I had almost forgotten about the existence of this pack 😅. What made me remember of it was the crazy amount of supportive messages + emails I received and many messages from people struggling to install the pack. Now that I look back at that time, I feel stupid like how could I have zoned out and not taken into consideration creating installation instructions. I mean... it's the most basic thing there is for all products hahaha.

That's why I have decided to dedicate aside a few hours of my time to write this page, for newcomers, as well as those who may still have trouble installing the bundle. Please note that nothing in the package has been changed or modified (although I understand that the bundle is starting to be obsolete now, and there are a lot of points of improvement).

I just go through here to add this installation instruction page. The product is still the 2017 one, without any changes.

I also promised you back in time to publish a version 2.0. Still nothing until now. I'm sorry about that. I got busier and busier as I moved on to the next levels of everything in my career, so the free time to work on version 2.0 became very little, if any.

But don't worry! One day it will come out. I don't know when, I don't know how or for how mcuh. I would avoid committing to an ETA, but I just have the ambition to release Cosmobox version 2.0... one day.

I will leave the Cosmobox 2.0 newsletter open for as long as my current newsletter Tier can handle. There are now almost 5.4K of you who have signed up for the newsletter. Thank you so much ! This is just crazy !

I hope to see you all soon !
