Insiders' Scoop on NYFW 2016

As my confidant and I were approaching the Moynihan Station at 33rd Street, I already see the long lines of glamoured spectator wanted to witness the newest collection by designers and iconic brand which people trying to trample in the stores so they wear it.





The light faded out and the show started. Models went out one by one and rocking the catwalk with the upcoming trendy clothes that will be out in the market. It was quite amusing how creative, or might be weird in some case, the designs are. From colorful garment that projects a bold statement to plain white Hazmat suit-look alike, that was unimaginable that I wearing it. But as a whole, it was a fun and hip collection of a collaborative work of designers.


The models went out then the designers were waving and the audiences were cheerfully applauding. The lights fade back and illuminate the studio and people started to chat and voice out their opinions and reactions. Taking pictures and selfies in every corner of the studio and people slowly exit The Arc.



Question & Answer with Avie Liu





Here is one of our correspondent in NYFW which will give you some insider's scoop and some ideas on how to prepare going to New York Fashion Week.


1. Who is Avie Liu and why did you attend the NYFW?

I am a graduate student majoring in fashion merchandising, and I'm originally from Taipei, Taiwan. I'm super honored t o be invited to our school’s (Academy of Art University) fashion week dedicated to our design students this year during September. I've always been interested in all the fashion events as well as what’s happening within the fashion industry, and always wanted to experience it myself, so I’ll not missing out of this one!


2. What are your expectations before coming to New York for the

fashion event?

This is actually my first time not only to attend a fashion show but also

to visit NYC, so without a doubt, I’m super excited, and honestly don't know what to expect, it’s NYC for god sack!


3. What are the items in your suitcase going to NYFW?

I’ve made a video about this trip to NYC, and in the beginning, there

is some footage happened to answer this question! So you should

check my video out! (wink*)


4. What is your overall feeling before coming to the Skylight at

Moynihan Station (33rd St.)?

Before coming to NYC, all of my acknowledgments about fashion shows and NYC are based on photos on Instagram or movies. GLAM, is the word that first popped into my mind when I thought of the venue, with all the paparazzi and IT girls on the red carpet.




5. Who are the famous celebrities and individuals that you saw during

the fashion week?

The Miss America was there at our show!


6. What collections that you are really enjoyed?

I enjoyed all of them! It’s hard to believe they are designed by students, the collections all look super professional and all have their own characteristics. It’s really an honor to have such talented alumnus like them.


7. What are your predictions for the upcoming fashion trends for the next year?

The whole sporty movement is still going on as well as the oversized.


8. If you have a chance to have a dinner with one NYFW designer/stylist, who would that be?

Demna Gvasalia of Vetements. He’s a freak in LEGEND!!!


9. What will you suggest to our readers who will visit the upcoming NYFW?

If you’ve ever got the chance, YOU GOTTA GO!! Even if you have to pay for your own plane tickets and hospitality, it’s still worth it!


10. Are you going back again to the future NYFW?

For sure!
