Dr. Keng Shian Ling is a clinical psychologist specialized in treating adult psychopathology, with a focus on mood disorders, anxiety disorders, emotion regulation issues, and borderline personality disorder. She received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Duke University (USA), and completed her clinical psychology residency at Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, Toronto, Canada. She holds an appointment as Associate Professor of Psychology at Yale-NUS College, and teaches courses in abnormal psychology and advanced clinical psychology. Additionally, she runs a research program focusing on examining the efficacy and mechanisms of change of mindfulness-based interventions, as well as the adaptation, implementation, and dissemination of empirically-supported interventions in Malaysia.
Clinically, Dr. Keng has received training in cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and other mindfulness-based approaches such as mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT). She has worked in hospital and clinic settings with patients of a variety of presentations, including mood, anxiety, substance use, eating, and personality disorders. She routinely provides training and workshops on DBT, and is fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese. Her clinical practice is culturally sensitive and LGBTQ friendly, and she aspires to help improve the quality and accessibility of mental health services in Southeast Asia through teaching, research, clinical work, and advocacy.
