Overlooking the Derby marsh, this grouped housing development operates as a short and medium term student accommodation facility for local Indigenous residents.
Two purpose designed houses were located on a site which were integrated by pathways and landscaping with the two existing buildings at the front of the property.
One of the dwelling includes two bed rooms and external community areas that are compliant with disabled access codes. An outdoor roofed common area is to be provided for use by all occupants.
The design places emphasis on orientation and position of windows allowing maximum cross ventilation from louvres throughout.
The new houses were constructed in a way that allows possible future development of the site to its full zoning capacity. Site planning allows for a simple conversion to single residential use of all the dwellings on the site if necessary in the future.
