Hello Muskegon County, my name is Rory Rought. I come from the small town of Pentwater which I'm sure most of you are familiar with. I moved to Muskegon County sixteen years ago and started a family. My wife Karla Rought of twelve years and I have three children together and reside in Dalton Township. Myself and my family are Christians and we attend Bridge Bible Church. I'm an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoy spending my free time in the woods with my family. I own Northern Michigan Outfitters which is a business I started about seven years ago. I take hunters on guided bear hunts in the western Upper Peninsula. I have a very large staff that represents my company all across the United States and Canada and we currently have our own hunting tv show on the Hunt Channel.
I come from a bloodline of law enforcement Officers as my father, four brothers, one sister-in-law and my wife were all sworn Police Officers in the State of Michigan at one time. I have seventeen years in law enforcement, sixteen of which have been spent serving the city of Muskegon Heights. I have been tested in almost every imaginable situation during the course of my career and have had the opportunity to see the positives and negatives of how law enforcement agencies are ran. To me your local Deputies and Police Officers are only as good as their leaders. True leadership is a lost art now days and I'm ready to bring that back to make each and every employee reach their full potential. Our men and women in law enforcement need a solid voice of reason to ensure the citizens of Muskegon County are being represented at maximum potential.
