INTERCESSORY PRAYER TEAM
Our Intercessory Prayer Team (IPT) was birthed in August 2014 when God specifically impressed Gerri Tate with the serious need to get a church team together to pray - and do it NOW. Gerri immediately went to Pastor Larry who agreed and told her to make it happen as God had given it to her. Pastor's specific requests were that we pray for our pastors and our church and that she take into the prayer team only those who were willing to make a personal stick-with-it commitment. Gerri called those God impressed upon her heart. Rhoda Gomez, Racquel Miller, and Rhonda Haggy swiftly emptied, cleaned, and set up a lovely Intercessory Prayer Room in the basement. What began with seven committed prayer warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3, has now grown to a dozen. This growth has come about as God personally impressed others to join.
Genesis 11:1-9 is the familiar story of the Tower of Babel. The people were speaking one language and building a tower to reach heaven to make a name for themselves. God stepped in, confused their language, and separated them. Verse 6 explains it all. And the Lord said, Behold, they are one people and they have all one language; and this is only the beginning of what they will do, and now nothing they have imagined they can do will be impossible for them. (AMP) Since they had the same goal in mind and were speaking the same words, there was no stopping them. Even though they were out of God's plan they had unity and, with it, would accomplished their plan! Our Intercessory Prayer Team recognizes that if we are to accomplish God's plan, His will, in our church, church family, personal families, and this Great Commission and vision He has given us, we must come together and operate in a spirit of unity.
Knowing God's will is His Word, we search the Bible and pray the scriptures. 1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. (KJV) We agree with His will, He hears us, and He makes it happen.
Couple this with what Jesus said in Matthew 18:19, our IPT scripture above, that it only takes two of us coming into agreement about anything for our Father to intervene and work it out. We have seen much happen in these past few months of earnest committed prayer.
The ministry of the Intercessory Prayer Team is to stand in Unity (united formation) as part of God's vast end-time army having sword in hand (the Word of God - sword of the Spirit) doing battle. David asked, ".... is there not a cause." (I Samuel 17:29 KJV) We say, "Yes, David, there is a cause, and just who is ... this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God? (1 Samuel 17:26 KJV)
