This venture started with humble beginnings with a group of friends and a salesman in a door-to-door B2B career. The journeys taken by each individual within this collective (whose concept came into being on the 3rd of October 2017) led the chairman to envisage a common goal to unite together some independent professionals, freelancers, and key industry personnel so that their lives would be a little easier, perhaps with more comfort, and that a special human online touch for wellbeing and sanctity of the mind ought to be provided.
Taking, ‘Chandrika Pasricha’, as inspirational for this bio, it is with great pleasure that we do announce that our goal within ‘Wisdom Association’ is simply to be able to add a little touch of ‘magic’ to the lives of all its members. Utilizing ten years of academic lore, and a very diverse work and cultural background, ‘Lexmilian de Mello’ (the chairman) does have some problems of his own too. He suffers from ‘anxiety’, and the very concept of being ‘well-known’ does great damage to the sanctity of his health and wellbeing. But the good news about ‘Wisdom Association’ is that its members can simply voluntarily choose to associate themselves with the collective under the contract ‘Consensio’, which in turn is just a good willed agreement entitling members to utilize the collective’s logos, and references, with the only mandate being that they themselves undergo an MMPI psychiatric examination. The point of the examination is purely so as to be able to tailor their learning experience, the resources provided, the radio music aired, and be able to better accommodate to the needs of the participant – simple as that!
We, at ‘Wisdom Association’, recognize the following main factors about freelancing (although, not all of us are freelancers – we also have CEO’s, academics, and other specialists in our forums):
— #1 Freelancing or independent working is a conscious choice being made by professionals with experience. We also realize that around 50% of skilled freelancers usually transition directly from the corporate sector. We realize that professional academics, freelancers, and independents, are highly disciplined and strong of mind – this as they usually are at a mid-stage or beyond in their careers and have taken the risk of going independent and to forego the security of a full time, regular job.
— #2 An increasing proportion of mainstream professionals are opting to work independently. Although segments historically associated with freelancing i.e., creative and design services, and information technology, remain important (approx. 20%, at a good guess), we here were surprised to see that more mainstream professional skills dominated this pool. Strategy and business development, general management, marketing and sales, research/academia followed by human resources and finance are the top functional categories collectively accounting for close to 70% of the expertise
— #3 The desire for greater control over one’s schedule and portfolio of work are the primary drivers for any independent agent, whether a hobbyist, freelancer, or a small collective team. Ultimately, better control over one’s schedule and the ability to be self-employed are top two reasons for choosing to freelance or becoming a hobbyist enthusiast.
If we at ‘Wisdom Association’ do not ignore, or disbelieve, the notion that each individual within our affiliation has a dual or multi-faceted nature, and is part divine, we can firmly establish that ‘our’ eudaimonia consists of a fully inclusive, well-rounded life, one that includes theoria, but not in the sense that our aim and purpose is solely toward a life of contemplation. This more well-rounded kind of life is the very epitome of what we here seek to achieve. Happiness in belonging, happiness for leisure, happiness at work, and joy at the wonderful gift we all have that is called LIFE!
