Don't you just love a game that explains everything in the title, Move or Die does just that. A party game where rounds are only 20 seconds long but with tons of different modes attached to it, the game has that Mario Party feel to it where you get your mates over and then all get annoyed with each other when matches get close and friendships betrayed. The visuals on move and die have a very restrained background to each level with the grey really pushing that defined look, where coloured blocks can be teleports or timed blocks they're very quickly noticeable but don't take too much emphasis away from what you are doing in that round. The colours of the characters standout and easily recognised which is just what you need when the rounds are so quick and the quicker you notice your character the better. The sounds of you stomping on, inflating, or exploding a couple of your mates have great cartoon sound effects and the background music gives you a real sense of urgency, neither is too intrusive which helps you concentrate on what you're doing and in this game you need to ensure you keep your wits about you.
The effectiveness of the control's really come out to play by responding to movements quickly and effectively, but you'll soon find people telling you the controls are on point when they win and the next minute the exact same mate saying the controls, game, you, their life sucks because they lost.
The button layout on a Xbox 360 pad is perfect, I would recommend using them if you are looking to do multiplayer on a sofa, but the developer does say that any controller or peripheral is compatible, so feel free to try to battle your friends using a set of Guitar Hero drums or Rock Band guitar if you want to knock it up a notch.
This is what I love about titles bringing competitive sofa games back, rinsing into someone for coming last while being sat right next to you, it does have a full online mode for playing with 3 randoms or mates online but that in my eyes kills the full effect of this game. If you are looking for a title where you can bring mates over and just have some good clean competitive fun then you really need to add this to your list.
