A couple of weeks after I completed the project ”Bodies create Sculpture”, my thoughts
and feelings are ambivalent. The project evoked more questions and doubts rather than
providing answers. The features of the issues concerning me vary:
Formal issues regarding the amount of bureaucracies an artist needs to handle in order to
complete a project. The amount of energy and drive (that has minor relevance to the actual
artistic practice), essential to expose ones art to the world.
Doubts regarding my artistic personal practice too: Am I privileged to create art in such a
dimension only because I have the economical means?
Has my work any artistic value at all?
Did I lose myself in the process?
And most important: Eventually when the party is over, Is their any art left?
However, the photograph on the right depicts a random family that attended the event. This
family used the platform I created to play and amuse themselves.
Their interactive interpretation of my constructed space only lasted for several minutes. But
it expressed their tight bonds as a family, and the moment became rather emotional and
special. It made me think about my family. My love to them and the complexities we faced
in the past, and still do.
Do not take life for granted
Eventually, the project did answer one question regarding the meaning of art:
Art is the fighter of the everyday life,
Through art one can reach glimpses of ones authentic self.
