Responding to current social and environmental issues.
Responding: International Performance Art Festival and Meeting is a brand-new international experimental platform to respond to current social and environmental issues through performance art as our instruments, followed by a symposium to create dialogue among communities within both local and global contexts. The inaugural project: R1 took places in Tokyo and Fukushima prefecture’s coastal areas where affected by 2011 the Great East Japan Earthquake, and each participants responded to the aftermath infamous situation there, a forgotten present tense living history. Its second: R2 will take place in Manila, Philippines this September, as a Filipino/Japanese joint project with a partnership with SIPAF (Solidarity in Performance Art Festival). Involving academics in their specific study fields, we will research and revisit Manila’s targeted neighborhoods and excavate some present and historical aspects of Filipino/Japanese relation within both in theater event and on the street. We are currently in conversation with a long-lasting art collective the Artist Village determining to hold R3 in Singapore in 2020.
