The work is inspired by the ancestral concept "mergor ut emergam": I immerse myself to re-emerge.
Like every demon of the human subconscious, wearing masks of obsessions and phobias, it sinks to resurface when the night closes the eyes, my work leads the observer on the journey through the subconscious, entering and emerging from it.
For this reason it is veiled by a black, semitransparent canvas: it slightly obscures what is behind it, symbolizing the portal for which one enters the oneiric dimension. It's like an invitation from the demonic smile, a hand to discover what's behind it, what's inside, what's beyond, the levels of the conscious.
The material I used for prints is that of X-rays, here the white is not printed, remaining transparent and sensitive to light that makes it naturally bright, in stark contrast to the imposing darkness that surrounds it.
These white "disturbances" that obscure the sight of real images, naturally confusing themselves with them, are nocturnal animals, which I prefer to call demons, which inhabit the disturbing, mysterious but sublime part of the night, as well as the introspective darkness.
They are in my work illuminated by reflection when placed in front of a white surface: this symbolizes the fire inside every dark, the meal of the moth. Our demons smile at us, invite us to kiss their closed eyes. Who will lift the black veil placed in front of my frames will discover by implementing a process of self-revelation, the light.
(The subject of the photos is a special being, who will never wake up from his sleep
always for teaching me not to be afraid of these intimate demons.)
