Lixue Lin-Siedler had started learning Chinese zither Guzheng since the age of nine with Baojun Li after the school of Zhongshan Wang and Lin Ling, famous virtuosos and educationists of the China Conservatory of Music. Later she started to follow master Dr. Yi-Chieh Jay Lai for advanced performance techniques and contemporary music on the Guzheng. She has graduated from the Renmin University of China and the Free University Berlin. Since 2011 she lives in Berlin, Germany. From 2014 Lin has started to learn the Japanese Koto, Jiuta Shamisen and traditional singing from master Makiko Goto and Naoko Kikuchi.
Highlights of performances:
- In 2018 and 2019, working with artist Irena Haiduk, Lixue has been the solo improvisation performer of “The Building of Skadar” at the Max Meyer Gallery in Düsseldorf. She continued the cooperation with Irena Haiduk in the “Cabaret Économique” art performance as improvisational musician at the Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum of Contemporary Art.
- In 2019, she was invited by the Impuls Academy for Contemporary Music in Graz to give introductory workshops for koto and bass koto to the composers and premiered 4 pieces.
- In 2019, she performed with koto and voice dramaturgically interwoven in the music theatre project “Das Weißen Rössl am Central Park”(director Johannes Müller, Sophiensaele), which was later recorded in the studio as a radio play and broadcast on Deutschlandfunk.
- In 2022 she received the financial support of the Berlin Senate to organize a barrier-free performance with her band (guzheng/double bass/drums) ‘Journeys with 25 Strings: A performance of music, audio-reactive visual art, narration, sign language and historical video materials’.
- In 2023 she performed with Guzheng in the opera 'Le Cinesi' at the Stuttgarter Theater.
- In 2024 she performed as Guzheng musician in the operetta 'Lisas Land des Lächelns' at the Neuköllner Oper in Berlin.
She performs Guzheng and Koto regularly in events like UNICEF charity concert, embassy receptions, cultural events of the Berlin city government and music festivals such as “Most Wanted Music” for the music industry and “Synthesis” for metal/experimental music.

- In den Jahren 2018 und 2019 hat Lixue in Zusammenarbeit mit der Künstlerin Irena Haiduk die Solo-Improvisation "The Building of Skadar" in der Max Meyer Galerie in Düsseldorf aufgeführt. - Im Jahr 2023 trat sie mit Guzheng in der Oper 'Le Cinesi' am Stuttgarter Theater auf.
