It takes a lot to get folks' tongues wagging, and even more to bag a D&AD New Blood award, but Michael did both with ease, thanks to his extra-special portfolio - the smallest in the world.
Intrigued? Of course you are. His itsy-bitsy design masterpiece is adorably cute and comes complete with a teeny magnifying glass, for obvious reasons. Does your portfolio? Didn’t think so.
With so little space, every millimetre had to count, and so it does - our Freelance Designer cherry picked his very best work, summarised it in less than a sentence, and carefully paired it with an oh-so simple illustration.
It’s clever stuff, but you don’t have to take our word for it. Just look at his yellow number - the keyhole doubles up as a lass, to match his copy seamlessly, and elsewhere, his eye is disguised as a Brazilian flag - because it’s ‘monitoring’, see?
Glance at any, or all, fourteen pages, and you'll soon get the gist - that's why it's an award winner. Impressive for a little fella, no bigger than your thumb nail, right? After ten days of finicky work, our Illustrator pal gifted his limited edition bundles of joy to his five favourite agencies.
But the true magic happened online, where it's enjoyed well over 50,000 views on Behance, as well as coverage in DesignTaxi and other creative magazines to boot. With client bookings now coming out of his ears, Michael Lester's minuscule portfolio certainly did the trick.
