Over the winter break, I completed all aspects of my original work. I took my original idea for the project- a press release- and expanded it, turning it into a complete press kit. A press kit contains three documents rather than one; I ended up writing a backgrounder, a fact sheet, and a press release. This addition to my original work project challenged me more and helped me gain more new PR knowledge than I believe I would have with my original idea. With the help of instruction and resources provided by my mentor, Leah Davies, I was able to write these documents about upcoming expansions of Cowboys' community programming in association with the 2018 NFL Draft (which the Cowboys will host in April at AT&T Stadium this year).

I certainly did my share of research on Cowboys history, partnerships, players, and community outreach, doing my best to gain a thorough understanding of the organization I will be representing through my mentorship. In writing all three documents, I synthesized facts and figures from the annual Cowboys community report and 2017 media guide with my own words to create an original press kit that maintains a professional tone and represents factual information. At mentor visits with Leah over break, we revised and edited my work together, ensuring that I know how to properly format and organize PR documents from here on out. I am proud of my original work, and I cannot wait to share it with my family and friends at the Research Showcase!
