Independent Study and Mentorship (ISM) is a unique and rigorous class offered in Frisco ISD that gives qualified students the opportunity to study in any career field they desire. To enter the program, students must be accepted based on an application and interview process. After being accepted, the students will pick a topic and begin to interview professionals in their chosen field to find a mentor. From that point on, the student will shadow their mentor to get a better understanding of their career area and create a final product with their mentor's aid that demonstrates the student's learning in that subject area over the course of the year. The course heavily focuses on public communication skills, independent research, the design of an original product, and networking.
