This week in ISM I decided to research the similarities and differences between the three engineering majors that relate to mechatronics the most (in my opinion), electrical, mechanical, and computer. I started my ISM journey thinking Electrical engineering was my elected career path, however my plans changed the more I explored into it. During the summer I attended an engineering camp, an experience I truly treasure. In said camp we spend days dealing with mechatronics, and the more I did, the more I wanted to do, and then it came to me: I don’t want to be limited to the electrical parts of a robot. I enjoy designing, building, coding, and more. After conducting some research I have come to the realization that mechanical engineering might be a better topic for my ISM project since it could offer more possibilities. Furthermore, this past week I created my contact list and filled it with various engineers in different fields, hoping that after talking with them my decision will be final. As my first interview approaches I cannot help but to feel the enthusiasm of having the opportunity to dive into the professional world. After three weeks in this course I can say with absolute certainty; it is a though process, but it will definitely be worth it.
