iTrust (International Translational Research in Uro-Sciences Team) is a small group of urologists interested in translational and clinical research in different fields of Urology. Mission of the group is to explore the most innovative topics of Urology, establishing interaction between international opinion leaders and practitioners in a friendly environment. Meetings of iTrust started to take place in the United States with the Jackson Hole Seminars. The first european meeting took place in Rome in 2014 and was focused on prostate, its diseases and their different treatments. After the success of the first event, an international expert panel has been involved in the second european event in 2015. The topic was in this case focusing on the kidney, from cancer treatment to the latest robotic transplantation technologies. During the congress, the first live surgery robotic transplant in Europe has been performed, featuring Prof. Ahlawat (Dehli, IN) and Prof. Breda (Barcelona, ES). In 2016, the third european iTrust meeting will have the topic "simulation and education in Urology: sharing standards for patients' safety". With this event iTrust groups wants to make a step back and analyze what sits behind medical expertise, in the attempt to give a big push to a novel, but still critical filed: medical education.
For the first time in Europe, the congress will be completely dedicated to simulation and its advantages towards the improvement of patient safety. Day 1will be dedicated to what simulation is today, with multiple experiences from around the world and a comparison between residency programe in different countries. Day 2 will be about sharing expertise between the worlds of medical and extra-medical education. Opinion leaders in urological education will meet experts from the world od commercial flight, car racing, software programming, with the aim of sharing ideas and improving actual standards. Day 3 will focus on novel solutions to bring the world of medical edication to the next level, with an insight on novel technologies and training programmes.
iTrust 16 congress will be presented in the TED-like format, in order to increase interaction between the audience and the international speakers involved. Moreover, extraordinary face-to-face sessions have been planned, in the attempt of stimulating discussion about the innovative topics treated.
