Skateboarding has been a huge influence of Hames' life. He began skating during was a pre-teen, and the lifestyle sport became a catalyst for his path leading to the present. While he does not skateboard as often since those early years, the lifestyle enhanced his passion for sliding on snow, which he has done since he was three. Skateboarding and skateparks inspired him to begin building terrain parks while still in high school. Upon graduating from Appalachian State University with a degree in Industrial Design, he moved to Lake Tahoe to begin a career designing, constructing, and marketing terrain parks. For the next ten years he traveled most of the United States consulting, designing, marketing, and building a variety of skatepark inspired terrain parks, consisting of non-linear flow, which is not often seen in terrain parks. Fast-forward to a 2016, he left the snow industry and entered graduate school at the University of Oregon, to enhance his design abilities and study Arts Management concentrating in Creative Direction. Skating and skateparks continue to be an integral part of his life and upon completion of the Master's program he plans to continue his career and passion in the lifestyle sport sector as a Creative Director.
