GRASBY ART KIDS and TEENS CLASSES



We offer quality art education for kids, and teens throughout the year. Our focus is to mentor and nurture artists of all ages.


At Grasby's, students are encouraged to explore subjects of personal interest while building technical skills, competency, and confidence in both drawing and painting. Projects are personal. Instruction is step-wise and focused on processs and techniques. Students are encouraged to explore mediums including: graphite, charcoal, pen, pastel, acrylic, oil, watercolour, and mixed media. ​


Supplies are included for this class however should you want an oversize canvas, they can be purchased from the store.

DRAWING



Drawing is a key component to our art program. All projects, regardless of medium, require the students to lay out a composition and draw forms. We teach drawing systems to improve planning and accuracy. Drawings are traditionally achieved using dry media like graphite, charcoal, pencil crayon, and chalk pastel. However, drawing is essential in wet painting mediums like watercolour, acrylic, and oil.



PAINTING



Painting allows students to explore colour theory, colour mixing, mood, tone, texture, and colour harmony. Painting includes wet mediums like acrylic, oil, and watercolour. Techniques learned allow students to describe subjects with an array of colours and textures. At Grasby Art, kids will learn a systematic approach to painting background, middle ground and foreground; shadows, midtones and highlights.



MIXED MEDIA



Mixed media incorporates several mediums and artistic tools within a single project. Students will learn to combine wet, dry, and textured mediums within one project.
