Teresa Grasby founded the Grasby Art Studio in Bowness, Calgary in 2011. The studio is an art education facility and art supply store. The mandate of Grasby Art is to provide mentorship to developing artists of all ages. Instruction at Grasby Art is offered as scheduled demonstrations, workshops, and monthly memberships.
Teresa's interest in art began at a young age with the mentorship she received from teachers and family. Throughout her education Teresa was recognized for her achievements in art. Teresa was awarded the Robert Warren Scholarship and was invited to attend 'gifted' children's workshops, display artwork at the Muttart Gallery, and attend art classes at the Glenbow Museum. Teresa was given the Wes Irwin art scholarship from Western Canada High School in 1986. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree, and a Minor of Art in drawing and painting from the University of Calgary in 1990. For her efforts she received the Undergraduate Merit Award.
Teresa has sold artwork privately and through many local galleries, including: the Leighton Art Centre, the Artspace Gallery, Calgary Zoo Gala, Artsastray, Art Up Calgary, Calyx Distinctive Arts, Saffron Gallery, the Andiamo Art Group, the Guilded Gallery, and the Grasby Art Studio.
Teresa has worked in the art business at Studio 4 Designs, LaFlamme Galleries, and as an artist-in-residence in many Calgary schools. Teresa is a diverse artist, who has mastered many art genres and mediums. This history and adeptness has allowed her to open her private art school as an artist/entrepreneur. The studio has been featured on CTV News, and articles have been published in Avenue Magazine, the Calgary Journal, and the Spectator Tribune (see articles below).
