We undertake workshops, guest lectures in collaboration with architecture / engineering colleges. Chief aim behind these is to expose the students to hands-on construction work, and the concepts of natural building. We engage with the students on the following topics:
1. Construction techniques - stone, brick, mud, lime
2. Roofing - Introduction to local timbers and their applications in designing hipped roofs
3. Knowing our natural resources - Connecting the raw materials used for construction with the local ecology and study of biodiversity of the region.
4. Finishes - Plasters and floorings in mud, lime, terracotta
5. Learning from the vernacular - study of local traditional architecture and its application in designing contemporary buildings
We do also undertake on site training of local masons on ongoing projects.
