The project is situated amidst a serene forest, overlooking a small dam on the Govitri river. It is a farmhouse for the Patel family living in Pune, which doubles up as a weekend destination / homestay for tourists wanting to spend quality time close to nature.
The house is partly load bearing and partly framed with timber beams and posts.
The house consists of a two floors, with a corner attic constituting another half a floor on top. It consists of a total of three rooms, a spacious hall that opens out to the veranda, an open kitchen and dining. The highlights of the house, though are the balcony on the first floor and the attic above it, each providing panaromic views to the water and the surrounding landscape. During monsoons, there is a 270 degree panaromic view of waterfalls from these spaces.
The structure is built using stone and mud that was obtained from site, and bricks, lime sourced from the local market. All labour was from a nearby village while specialised carpenters that worked on it hailed from Belgaum.
