The "Interactive shoal" is an interactive art installation, a project done for the course "New media and new technology", Media Tech MSc programme of Leiden University. This project explores the possibility of interfering the interesting flocking phenomenon of a shoal of fish, giving visitors a fun approach to feel the connection between the nature and themselves. Visitors could use the shadow of their arms or other body part to interact with the shoal, which is projected onto the ceiling by a projector.

The image of fish is designed in Photoshop and illustrator.

The shoal and flocking behavior is created in openframeworks.

The interaction is made possible with a kinect, tracking the movement of a visitor's arm or hand.
