Just within these first two weeks, I’ve been tasked with plenty of projects and assignments, all of which are unchartered territory for me. On the very first day of class I was required to create a LinkedIn profile, a website I had previously thought was only used by adults in their 40s. I then built a website tailored to myself and my career goals, which I will continue to add to and develop for months to come. Next, I was tasked with the writing and giving of a speech to introduce myself and my field of study. Every day that I walk into class I am given the opportunity to perfect my professional handshake, which has helped build my confidence. Additionally, I’ve begun building a contact list with which I will find a willing mentor ready to help me explore the field of robotic surgery.

These two weeks have truly been a period of learning, setting my expectations and preparing me for the year to come. I know the program will be long and rigorous, but I’ve never been one to back down from a challenge. I’m prepared for all of the opportunities and challenges ISM has to offer.
