Wednesday, October 4th was the annual ISM Business Symposium: a convening of every student in the ISM program district-wide to come and sharpen their professional skills, expand their networks, and gain valuable insight from the people who have walked in our footsteps years ago. I had the pleasure of interviewing with two professionals who critiqued my resume, helped me develop my interview skills, and even connected me with individuals who may be able to aid me with my independent study! Overall, the day was very successful, equipping me with an even stronger desire to excel on my ISM endeavors.

Additionally, on Sunday, October 8th I had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with the Da Vinci Surgical System at Medical City Frisco. The hospital partnered with SciTech to produce a demonstration of the machine that people of all ages were welcome to come and view. I had an incredible time operating the machine and grasping a better understanding of its controls. The first hand experience only assured me that robotic surgery is something I am passionate about, and it encouraged me to continue my search for a mentor in this field of study.
