In other news, on Friday I was officially accepted into ISM 2! This means I will be able to continue my study in robotic surgery over the course of my senior year. While others in ISM 2 may choose to change their topic of study for their second year, I feel no need to do so when I absolutely love my current topic and mentorship. The only variable that could potentially prevent me from pursuing the same mentorship would be if Dr. Heffernan declined my request, but I find that highly unlikely (not to jinx it)! Continuing with the same topic and same mentor would allow me to dive far deeper into the world of robotic surgery, something that is much harder to accomplish when you spend the first semester of the course networking and conducting brief interviews. Continuing with ISM was originally not my biggest priority, but I am extremely thankful I decided against discontinuing the course, and cannot wait for the rest of this school year as well as the year to follow!
