Upon arriving to the coveted school for medical undergraduates, the first building my mom and I came across was Hackerman Hall, the building that houses surgical robots of all kind. Front and center was the da Vinci surgical system, and from then on I knew JHU would make it to the top of my list for prospective colleges.

While touring there and attending a pre-med information session at the university, I was lucky enough to explore the lab where Johns Hopkins students get to work with surgical robots, improving them and developing new features and additives. It was absolutely fascinating to see the implications of my ISM topic of study in the real world, as well as the importance da Vinci surgery holds in the future of medicine. Technological advancements on surgical robotic systems are developing every single day, and I can’t wait to be on the forefront of this endeavor in the future.
