In terms of research, having established my knowledge on the basics of robotic surgery, I made it my focus to better understand the mechanics behind robotic surgical systems. The biggest takeaway I gathered from my research is that the components of robotic surgical systems allow physicians to see detailed and precise images of the body’s interior via three-dimensional imaging as well as the use of long, chopstick-like operating tools to make surgeries minimally invasive. In other news, this week I was tasked with the crafting of a professional resume. For a high school student, this was a difficult feat. My experience is somewhat limited, given that I have never held a real job. Digging through my brain, I managed to come up with lists of personal achievements and extracurriculars over the years, creating a resume I’m proud of. To view the result, click here.

Overall, I am all the more excited to dive into the exciting world of robotic surgery, now more equipped to do so after this week with an increase in knowledge and a professional resume, as I continue my search for a mentor.
