Practically the perfect cultivation of all of my research and knowledge, I developed a curriculum plan to be utilized by beginning robotic surgeons. By synthesizing the information I gathered from published studies, practicing robotic surgeons, and academic journals, I was able to create a document that takes what I know and transforms it into something new, something that I hope will be able to aid the medical community.

In order to truly accomplish my goal with my work, I had to research in much greater depth the current programs being used for training, what has proven effective and what hasn’t, and how education varies among differing fields, just to name a few. This was the only true way for me to be able to truly develop an effective plan. Research was absolutely essential, the backbone in crafting a successful Original Work. I then synthesized all of my research into a standard curriculum plan, highlighting the methodology that works and excluding the less successful pieces. Essentially, I took old research and made it into something new, something that is more significant and inherently useful to medicine.

One major shortcoming in the relatively new field of robotic surgery is the discrepancy in education for surgeons. My Original Work serves to bridge the gap between these two areas. I saw a need and sought to fill it, a feat I know will help the medical community work to the creation of an effective and standard robotic surgery curriculum. When it comes to my Final Product, I’m not quite sure what’s in store. However, as I continue my search for a mentor, I am confident that he or she will help me take what I’ve accomplished thus far to an entirely different level.
