Knifemaking

Heat Treating

A lot of times when heat treating knives, my steel will try to crack, even at low tempatures. And so for this tip, if you're a beginner knife-maker, one important thing to keep in mind is that if you quench certain steels in water, they're more vulnerable to crack. I mostly work with 1095 High Carbon Steel; and with this steel i quench it in Canola Oil. But every metal varies on what to quench each steel in what, and how high to heat it up to; so it's a good idea to research online for the liquid, and what steel to quench in the liquid.

Woodworking

Wood Filler

When I'm woodworking, woodcarving, or even KnifeMaking, I encounter worm holes everywhere I go. And most of the time I fill it with Epoxy Resin or wood filler. Wood filler is more natural, and blends with the wood. Epoxy Resin is usually for when I decide to inlay a stone, shavings, etc. But when I do use wood filler, one helpful tip can change your woodworking forever.

If you don't have wood filler, no problem! You can simply make your own Wood filler with any color wood you like. Just simply mix Wood glue and Saw dust together, and it works just as good, if not, better than regular wood filler you buy at the hardware store.
