Prayer is how we talk to God. God hears all of our prayers whether they are out loud, whispers, or in our heads. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." The thing to remember when praying to God is it is like talking to a friend: the more you engage with Him, the easier and more natural the conversation will flow. If you refrain from talking to God on a daily basis, you will begin to feel disconnected from Him. If you're looking for a place to start, there is an acronym I like to remember: ACTS. The "A" stands for adoration, showing that we should begin our conversation with God by acknowledging his greatness. The "C" stands for confession, meaning we must confess our sins and our unworthiness and acknowledge that Jesus paid for these sins. James 5:16 says "Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective." The "T" stands for Thanksgiving, thanking God and praising Him for His goodness and his mercy. The "S" stands for Supplication, which means our requests for healing, provision, etc. When praying, just remember that the creator of the universe, who loves you and cares for you, is listening intently. Jeremiah 29:12 says "Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you."
