Virtual Reality (VR)
Virtual reality (VR) is a technology involving the creation of a virtual world with little or no connection to the physical environments around the user. While VR has very similar applications to augmented reality (AR), the fundamental principle is different. Popular virtual reality products include the Google Cardboard, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and the PlayStation VR.
Augmented Reality (AR)
In contrast to VR, augmented reality (AR) technology adds virtual interaction, such as sounds, graphics, and haptic feedback, to the real world. Consequently, augmented reality is more useful for certain professional fields and enterprises, like business, the military, and tourism, than virtual reality. This also makes it more difficult to develop because it draws highly on sensor and scanner inputs to incorporate real-world information, as opposed to VR which is entirely virtual and separated from the environment around the user.
