The focal image in this brief series is derived from a single photograph taken by Richard Lokiden Wani (b. 1964) titled "Deux Femmes". MY GIRLS addresses an intention that exists consistently within my entire body of work - to question the differences and similarities between repurposing an image, paying homage to a specific artist, and blatant appropriation. The process itself begins with a number of images compiled and collaged digitally. Some of these iterations involve printing and direct application of paint, followed by more digital processing. Others, however, are not addressed outside the digital realm. Both the process and the presentation of the resulting images take inspiration from Andy Warhol's trademark use of repeated imagery.
