A good medical research should always be based on a clear health-related problem that is common in the community or has a serious adverse effect that could be socio-economically affecting the community. The research shall be for the scientific community applicable and the results are able to be measured. In my opinion, I do think it is very important to speculate the future of the research project. For example, where this project will be in 5 – 10 years. Is it possible to be translated to clinical practice? If yes how and if no why.!!
Our understanding to research process is still not fully developed and we need further steps to say our research system is mature enough to utilize the golden benefits of the research. I will give here small example; Research collaboration and the fact of being collaborated with different groups within the same field, in this case medicine, is a very powerful tool for research process advancement but what is superior here is that if you have an idea that is circulated in a multidisciplinary research collaboration. How medicine interacts with physics, chemistry, and mathematics etc. I am sure at this stage our research outcomes will be much more on the real ground. Research collaboration is very important which I have lacked during my studies since I am the only one working on cancer in my research group, and that actually, has some good and bad points. I have worked totally independent and I had to run every single thing myself and I had to go through every single challenge myself. I had to read too much and explore and try everything, contacting and discussing with different people, seniors, supervisors, and this build a very strong knowledge capacity for me. I get know how and where to search for the information, how to develop ideas, how to generate hypothesis based on mine and others observations, how to further develop or shift the results toward meeting the research project points. Thanks to Lund University and thanks to the PhD program who guided me to the way for critical thinking. Sometimes things could happen and new unexpected results could pop up and then you have to shift the study plan a little bit to meet the new outcomes. I am talking here about shifting rather than ignoring because of course what was planned could be postponed according to the new findings and we can fix a shared roadmap where all the data can be met or where it could be a new start for further continuation.
