The Fondazzjoni Socjo-Kulturali Ambjentali Augustina (FSKAA) has embarked on a project to develop a Conservation and Research Lab (CARL) to engage further its volunteers in Collection Care and Management and strengthen the capability and capacity of locals' skills especially those engaged or willing to be engaged in cultural industries. The project is at its final phases. The Course organised in 2016 and co-funded by SIS 45% were locals and rest were from outside Valletta. The 3rd phase of implementation the short courses is currently underway with; Health and Safety completed and Basic Exhibition Management currently being implimented. The Basic Data Entry Operator Course and practical applications will be the closing sessions in December 2017.
The Lab is in its final scheme. It will be a space to host professional restorers to address critical assets and will assist the Foundation through skilled volunteers for conservation, cleaning, maintenance, registering, tagging and presentation and exhibition of artefacts for the collection. It will also host the main server (seperate funding) for the Inventory of the Collection.
